Strengthening LGBTQ+ Business Presence and Impact

Independent Statewide Expansion Advisory Board

ORPIB is seeking dedicated individuals from all of Oregon and SW Washington (Clark and Skamania Counties) to apply for the Statewide Advisory Board.

Provide insights and feedback from your region to 

  • Advise ORPIB Chamber Board of Directors

  • Help shape Oregon’s LGBTQ+ business communities

  • Help local economies thrive with tailored support and resources

  • Help establish Affiliate Chapters in each of Oregon’s 13 economic regions and SW Washington

Community Hubs — Affiliate Chapters

By establishing affiliate chapters, Oregon Pride in Business aims to provide localized support, advocacy, and resources that will empower LGBTQ+ businesses and professionals in their respective regions. 

These chapters will serve as vital hubs for connectivity, business growth, and community engagement, ensuring that every part of Oregon benefits from ORPIB’s comprehensive support network.

Apply to the Statewide Expansion Advisory Board

Oregon Pride in Business (ORPIB) is expanding our reach and impact and is seeking dynamic, experienced, and committed individuals from Oregon and SW Washington to join our ORPIB Expansion Advisory Board.

This advisory board functions independently to provide the Board of Directors with insights and feedback from their region. Expansion Advisory Board Members will play a crucial role in guiding our strategic direction as it relates to growth and expansion, enhancing our community presence, and fostering business growth within the LGBTQ+ community across Oregon and SW Washington.

Key Responsibilities Could Include

  1. Strategic Planning

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of ORPIB’s expansion strategy and plans.

    • Provide insights and recommendations to ensure the organization’s growth and sustainability.

  2. Community Representation

    • Act as a liaison between local community stakeholders and the Board of Directors Facilitate connections between ORPIB and local businesses, government entities, and community organizations.

    • Attend ORPIB events in your area and interact with your regional LGBTQ+ community when possible.

  3. Resource Development

    • Assist in identifying and securing funding opportunities, including sponsorships, grants, and partnerships.

    • Support the development of fundraising strategies and initiatives.

  4. Program Development and Evaluation

    • Provide input on the creation and enhancement of programs that support LGBTQ+ businesses.

    • Evaluate the effectiveness of ORPIB’s programs and suggest improvements.

Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: Significant experience in business, entrepreneurship, economic development, or a related field.

  • Community Involvement: Demonstrated commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and understanding of the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ businesses.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to contribute to long-term strategic planning and organizational growth.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire various stakeholders.

  • Networking: Strong network within Oregon and/or Southwest Washington’s business, government, and community sectors.

  • Leadership: Proven leadership abilities and experience in advisory or board roles preferred.

Commitment

Term: Advisory Board Members serve a two-year term, renewable upon mutual agreement.

Meetings: Attend monthly Advisory Board meetings and participate in additional meetings or events as needed.

Time Commitment: 8-10 hours per month, including meeting preparation and participation.

Volunteers are needed throughout Oregon and SW Washington to help connect your local LGBTQ+ and Ally Business Community with Oregon Pride in Business. No regular meetings are required! We’ll meet with you to provide outreach tools and materials, and discuss how you’d like to reach out to folks in your area.

With one full-time staff member, volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization as a whole. With the exception of in-person events, Volunteers can serve ORPIB virtually from anywhere in Oregon or SW Washington.
