Community Partnership
At Oregon Pride in Business (ORPIB), we believe that real, lasting change comes from collaboration. By establishing Community Partnerships as a dedicated category in our operational plan, we are intentionally cultivating relationships with diverse organizations that align with our values and mission. This focus allows us to enhance our outreach, expand our influence, and work together to create social and economic justice for the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. Our approach to community partnerships is grounded in intersectionality, a framework that acknowledges the interconnected nature of various identities—such as race, gender, sexuality, ability, and socioeconomic status—and how these overlapping identities shape people’s experiences and opportunities. In the context of racial and other identities, intersectionality helps us understand that the challenges faced by individuals from marginalized groups are not isolated to any single aspect of their identity but are the result of multiple layers of discrimination and inequality.
By focusing on intersectionality, ORPIB can ensure that our work is inclusive and reflective of the diverse experiences within the LGBTQ+ community. This means supporting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities, as well as those with disabilities, non-binary individuals, immigrants, and people from other historically underrepresented groups. In practice, intersectionality allows us to address the unique needs of these communities, ensuring that our efforts for change are not one-dimensional, but rather multifaceted and holistic. This intentional focus on diverse and intersecting identities enables us to expand our reach, drive transformative change, and create a space where every individual, regardless of their background or identity, has the opportunity to thrive. Our partnerships with other organizations that share these values will not only support the growth of our members but will also contribute to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and just society for all.
Current Community Partners:
- Black American Chamber of Commerce A vital partner in advocating for Black-owned businesses, promoting racial equity, and fighting systemic injustice in the economic landscape.
- Northwest Native American Chamber A key ally in supporting Native American entrepreneurs, preserving cultural heritage, and addressing the unique economic and social challenges faced by Indigenous communities.
As ORPIB continues to grow, we will expand our network of community partners to further our mission of intersectionality, growth, and positive social impact. Together, we can build a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their race, sexuality, gender, or other identities.
