Oregon Pride in Business (ORPIB) is seeking an Executive Director to work collaboratively with its Board of Directors and stakeholders to seed the organization’s growth and expansion across Oregon and SW Washington, and develop strong business and government partnerships to support the organization’s future. This position is an excellent fit for developing and experienced leaders with strong relationship and management skills, and a desire to lead a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with ORPIB’s stakeholders to evolve the organization and seed its growth and expansion to serve LGBTQ+ businesses across Oregon and SW Washington.

  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships and partnerships with businesses and government organizations to advance ORPIB’s goals.

  • Manage the organization in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and objectives set by the ORPIB Board of Directors, and work collaboratively with the board, staff, and volunteers to carry out ORPIB’s mission.

  • Set clear direction and objectives that are aligned with ORPIB’s vision and mission.

  • Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems. 

  • Recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.

  • Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress. Regularly evaluate program components to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.

  • Actively engage and energize ORPIB volunteers, board members, committees, partnering organizations, government contacts, and funders.

  • Recognize individual differences while focusing on team cohesion. Develop and sustain an inclusive collaborative team environment to support diverse stakeholders and team members.

  • Manage ORPIB’s public image, as perceived by members, business, government partners, and the public at large. Ensure ORPIB is viewed as a credible source of information about the LGBTQ+ business community in Oregon and SW Washington.

  • Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support program operations and regional expansion.

  • Provide leadership in managing the development and implementation of brand management and communication strategies internally and externally.

  • Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.

  • Track record of effectively leading and scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth

  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation

  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget

  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships

  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skill

Location

  • This will be a hybrid position, with the Executive Director splitting time between the ORPIB office in Portland, Oregon and a home office. 

Supervisory Responsibility 

  • This position reports to the Board of Directors and has one direct report.

Compensation

  • $70,000 – $85,000 commensurate with experience

  • Annual incentives based on performance KPIs

  • 20 days PTO (vacation/sick leave/personal leave)

  • 5 paid federal holidays of your choosing

  • ORPIB paid healthcare contribution at 75%

Hiring Process

  • Applications will close February 29, 2024 and candidate screening will begin (this will include application, resume, and cover letter review and an initial phone screen). 

  • By mid-March, candidates will be notified whether or not they were selected to move forward.

  • Candidates selected to move into interviews will be contacted to schedule a three-person panel interview. The panel interview will include a short presentation from the candidate (up to 10 minutes) solving for an Oregon Pride in Business need. The candidate will have one week to prepare.

  • The panel will provide their recommendation(s) to the Board of Directors and paid staff to review all recommendations and application materials. 

  • A selection will be made by mid-March and the selected candidate will receive a formal offer. 

  • Ideal start period will be mid-April, 2024 (exact start date can be flexible). 

This position may require you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If required, you’ll be asked to provide proof that you’re fully vaccinated upon your start date. You’re considered fully vaccinated two weeks after you receive the second dose of a two-dose vaccine series (e.g., Pfizer or Moderna) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson/Janssen). Failure to provide proof of vaccination may result in termination.
